The predecessor of the “Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park” is the Taipei City Children's Museum of Transportation, which was later turned over to the Hakka Affairs Commission of the Taipei City Government for planning. The construction went on from 2008 to 2011. The whole project of planning and design was initially completed in October 2008. The main project was put out to contract in April 2009 and the groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 20 of the same year, signaling the start of the engineering construction. The lot size of the project is 4.03 hectares. The park plans to use the six major themes of “humanities or culture, ecology, education, science and technology, industry, and agri-tourism” to create a public park that is close to the water and exhibits the nature of a Hakka village.
