The construction went on from 2008 to 2011. The whole project of planning and design was initially completed in October 2008. The main project was put out to contract in April 2009 and the groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 20 of the same year, signaling the start of the engineering construction. The lot size of the project is 4.03 hectares. It has a collection of more than 8,000 books and is a treasure house for Hakka researchers and scholars. It also has a comprehensive software and hardware audio-visual equipment, which enable it to classify and properly preserve Hakka&rsquo;s culture and history, ballads and dramas by means of multimedia and digital format, thereby enriching the collection of the library and be valued and respected by all Hakka groups all over Taiwan. The modern decoration and digitalized content of the library has also successfully attracted the young people to join, allowing them to become a new force in the study and discussion of Hakka culture.<br /><br />The venue of the &ldquo;Taipei City Hakka Library and Video Center&rdquo; is also open for lease. It mainly serves as an important venue for Hakka folks and Taipei residents to gather, socialize and connect with each other. Through this place, they can also experience the history, architecture, food and daily living of the Hakka culture. Various ethnic groups converge harmoniously here in metropolitan Taipei, making it an important base for the revival of Hakka culture. It is located in bustling Lane 157, Section 3, Xinyi Road, Da&rsquo;an District, next to a small community park. Inside the quiet lane, the building&rsquo;s exterior uses a mix of traditional firebricks, pebbles, modern metal fa&ccedil;ades and glass curtains. A blend of tradition and modernity, the building showcases the persistence and integration of Hakka culture. The Hall provides a diversified channel for the study, succession and flourishing of cultural knowledge. In addition to allowing the public to rent the venue for seminars and performances, the HAC also continue to open the &quot;Taipei Hakka Academy&rdquo; and providing a variety of courses for the public, in order to pass on and promote Hakka culture and strengthen the participation and understanding of the public towards Hakka culture, integrate Hakka culture into their daily lives and in the process, achieve its ultimate goal of preserving the Hakka culture. It is located on the third floor of the Daan District&rsquo;s Community Center (formerly Taipei City Daan Land Office) and is adjacent to Daan Forest Park and Jianguo Holiday Flower Market. Entering the Art and Culture Center, you find yourself immersed in the rich Hakka scholarship and literature, and together with the exhibition about the Yimin Festival, the heroic struggle of the ancestors against the rebels, seem to flash before your eyes. Embodying courage and dignity, they inspire a deep respect. The rich collection of books in the library has attracted many Hakka cultural researchers and the public. Cultural inheritance is no longer limited to oral transmission between the old and young, but through the development of modern information, the history, life, folk songs, drama of Hakka culture, and other various content are classified and preserved using multimedia, digital content, video, etc. In the future, the richness and diversity of these Hakka cultural information may be transmitted to the households through the metropolitan area network (MAN) and the Internet. Lectures and performances are often held in the exhibition venue, which is open to groups and people in the community to apply and use. This has made the Hakka Art and Culture Center a place for cultural exchanges between Hakka folks and community residents. The Art and Culture Center is an important place to carry out the propagation and passing on of the Hakka language. It regularly runs courses related to Hakka language teaching, serving the Hakka community and the general public. Through the course content and learning, the seeds of Hakka culture are nourished and cultivated.
