Free Guided walk in May 25, Jiantanshan Hiking Trail of Taipei Grand Trail section 5
Taipei Grand Trail, a 130-kilometer long-distance urban hiking trail, is easy accessible and allows people to feel the charm of Taipei’s mountains, forests and the beauty of the city from different perspectives. Let’s go for a relaxing walk together. Supervised by the Geotechnical Engineering Office and organized by the Taiwan Nature Trail Society, four guided tours will be presented in English this year. Residents and visitors are welcome. Jiantanshan Hiking Trail belongs to Section 5 of Taipei Grand Trail. The tour will last about 2.5 hours (with interpretation). Jiantanshan Hiking Trail Saturday, May 25// 8:30 - 11:00 AM Meet at MRT Jiantan Station Exit 1, at 8:30AM Ends at Jihe Park near MRT Jiantan Station Exit 2 Traffic information: MRT Red Line (Tamsui-Xinyi Line) and get off at (R15) Jiantan Station About Jiantan Hiking Trail: Jiantanshan Hiking Trail is located in the westernmost of Mt. Wuzhishan. It is one of the best trails in Taipei with panoramic views of the city and Taipei Songshan Airport. Jiantanshan was once a military control zone and also a conservation area. The natural habitat is well preserved. The route will take participants to destinations such as the 153-meter-high trigonometrical point of Jiantanshan, Breeze Platform and North Eye Platform. These two platforms are the newliest built and very popular sights along the trail. They provide a great view of Taipei Basin, including Tamsui River, Keelung River and Guanyinshan (Mt. Guanyin). Besides, the radio tower offers great views of the other side, such as Taipei 101, Keelung River and Songshan Airport. Taiwan Nature Trail Society has organized many kinds of activities, including trail tours and environmental education events.
